Bench Mandrel is an app for iPhone and Android for silversmiths and hobby jewellers. It answers the questions you ask a dozen times a day – how long should the blank be, what does it weigh, what is the metal worth today – and keeps track of the work itself: time, photos, parts and the finished pieces.

Everything is calculated the way a smith works: along the metal's neutral axis, with saw kerf, with real profiles. And everything runs on your phone, even without a connection.

What it does

• Ring sizes and blanks – Swedish, EU, UK and US sizes, blank length for flat, D-shape, round and square wire, resizing with saw kerf, and a ring sizer you calibrate with a bank card.
• Metal and price – today's silver, gold, platinum and palladium prices, metal value for every alloy, weight of wire, sheet, tube and castings.
• Shapes and templates – bezels (round, oval, square, octagon, conical with prongs), discs for domes and cups, claw patterns you draw yourself – printed 1:1 as PDF.
• Projects – one tap to start the timer, photos from the bench, parts from stock, and an estimate for the next piece based on the ones you have already made.
• Stock and sales – parts you made or bought, finished pieces with their story, market mode and price tags.
• People – ring sizes for friends, family and customers, so the notes on paper never get lost again.
