Weave it before you cut a single ring

Chainmaker is a 3D workshop for chainmaille that runs in your browser. Choose a weave, your wire and your mandrel, and see the chain take shape ring by ring – at true proportions.

What it does

• Classic weaves – Byzantine, Box, 1-in-1, 2-in-2, Rope and Full Persian, plus Sweet Pea and new weaves found by our weave engine.
• Your rings, your wire – AWG and SWG wire, mandrels in inch sizes, and the aspect ratio for each weave with its ideal range.
• Build guide – the build order step by step, with instructions you can copy, and tips for opening and closing rings.
• Length & materials – how many rings and how much wire a chain of a given length needs, in sterling, Argentium, fine silver, 14k gold, copper, brass or bronze.
• Free building – add, move, rotate and hinge rings yourself, snap them into place, repeat a unit along the chain, undo and redo.
• Save and share – save your chains, export them as a file and open them again later.
