Every part of a box, flat on one sheet
A box in sheet is a base, a band round it and a lid made the same way – sometimes with a bezel inside for the lid to slide over, sometimes with a hinge at the back. Or it is folded up from one piece, or built from a scored strip bent into a frame.
Boxmaker works out every piece from the size you want, lays them out flat at true size, and shows the box in 3D so you can open the lid before you cut anything.
What it does
- The shape – rectangle with or without rounded corners, circle, oval, hexagon, octagon, heart or drop, measured outside or inside.
- How it's built – a band soldered to a base, a scored strip folded into a frame (the Revere way), or folded up from one sheet with V-grooved corners.
- The lid – none, a lid that slides over a bezel, or a hinged lid with the tube, the number of knuckles and the pin.
- Parts, 1:1 – the base and lid plates with extra to file away, the bands with every corner and curve marked, the bezel, the folding net and the hinge tube with its cuts, and a 50 mm ruler to check that the print is true.
- Step by step – sawing, bending, the order of solders, fitting the bezel and making the hinge.
- The numbers – outside and inside measurements, the volume, the weight in your metal and what the metal costs.
- Files – SVG to print, STL for 3D printing, and your design saved as a file to open again later.
Beta
Boxmaker is new. Check the first print against a ruler, and the parts against each other, before you cut.
